Rachel H Powers, MA, LCPC, NCC, DCC
After graduating from Hope College in 2003 with my Bachelor's degree in Psychology, I spent a year and a half working in a residential treatment facility with severely behaviorally and emotionally disturbed teens. Following this, I returned to school and graduated from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology with my Master's degree in Forensic Psychology. During my Master's program, I completed a year-long internship doing psycho-social assessments and individual therapy with teens who were court-ordered into treatment. Immediately upon graduation I was hired by a local Juvenile Probation Department as a family therapist working with at-risk juvenile probationers and their families using a nationally recognized Blueprints for Violence Prevention program. During this time I also established my private practice where I focused my work on individuals and couples. In January of 2009, I transitioned from my family therapist position with the Probation Department into a new position that allowed me to expand my professional focus to include investigations while also giving me the ability to offer additional services to my private practice clients. I have been looking forward to offering additional services to an even wider range of clients for some time now and will be getting that opportunity in September 2011 when I launch my new web-based services. Due to personal circumstances that will have me relocating several times in the coming year, I will be temporarily closing my office-based practice at the end of August and will be focusing solely on the online component of my practice. Please see my Services & Fees page for a complete list of my new offerings.
